ONE WAY TICKET

This video is made of three different sequences, sychronized, showing differnt angles of a situation happening in one single moment.
It tells the story of a character going on a journey, scaping from the monotony of her life, to realize that being away and spending time with herself, just being absorved by the experience, will make her want to stay in this journey for life. Remaining in the end, locked in a mental and emotional journey, where she thinks she found her own happiness.

This piece was presented as an installation at Birmingham City University. It's second appearance happened at the Birmingham's Old Curzon's street train station in a show called Cure Zone among other visual artist's works. The following video is how the installation actually looked when mounted.

The music for this vedo was specially produced by landscaper, more details about the band at: www.myspace.com/landscapeband

STILLS EXTRACTED FROM THE 'One Way Ticket' VIDEO

DESCRIBING 'ONE WAY TICKET'

I designed and produced this video installation consistent of, four cushions shaped and disposed to form an airplane, and a projection in the ceiling of three screens of video.
The viewer had to lay down on the cushions and look up to be able to watch the video, that was playing simoultaneously and sychronized, showing different angles of one single action happening at that very same moment.
The cushions were printed with different photographs i took of different street floor, under the concept of creating a space to take the viewer in a journey into the world i created with the video.

The topic is travel as a journey, and also as a change in the interior of a person.
The video present the story of a character that goes into a journey, to a place she has never been before, the character is the person who has always done what she has been told to do so, and always lived by the rule. In this journey she discovers that follow her own will, makes her feel and experience things she has never been through before. At the end she locks herself inside her mind, refusing to come back to her life, staying in the trip a mental one, for life.

This installation was shown at Birmingham City University and in The Cure Zone exhibition, at the old Curzon street station in Birmingham, in september and october 2007, respectively.

Hey artist folks

I went to Italy from south to north this month to do some work for my latest video project and took the opportunity to visit the Biennale of visual arts in Venice which is huge and well inspiring.

For those of you who don't know about the Biennale, it's an International exhibition with just one representative of every nationality from England to China, Pakistan, Japan, Mexico, USA, Brasil, Venezuela, India, etc. every single corner of the world gets one artist to represent it at the Biennale on visual arts like: illustration, photography, animation, installation, video, architecture, even theatre. It's the place to be if you are working or just interested in visual arts.

I highly recomend you to take a look at these next artists, that were exhibiting there>

B&W External Journey

Some of my photos for the first part of my visuals are black and white, can't avoid to find that there's more to say in a B&W photo, because there are no colors adding different meaning to the image... is just what's in there in the frame, speaking by itself.

Internal Journey

This part of my visuals is called internal journey, understood as the internal change in time and space that we get coming from external impressions.

I worked a few visuals mixing photographs, some montages and collages and in most cases i also added words, my thoughs and reflexions.

All of this examples in a way are related with matters such as time and space. Orinic images, dreams and desires.

I think of them as an example of when we see things for the first time, or notice something that has always been there infront of our eyes but we are so blinded by quotidianity to really see it, so stressed out, always runing. Those small details that we pass un-notice but are yet present.

The place we're in

This image represents my own journey in the MA. I've been taking a few self portraits from time to time, to show me how I've been changing, in this journey, and what are the shape of my surroundings.
The place we're in, was inspired by Taylor Wood work in "Revolution 360".
All charachters are played by me, in different rolles inside of this picture, but each one, is inmerce in it's own world without giving atention to the other. All they are different sides of myself, living in the same place.

People of the wind

This is the first self portrait i worked, it may not look so much like me because i metamorphosed into a pigeon, the pigeons also metamorphosed and grew their wings.
Pigeons are so common, kind of the universal bird...
This is actually a 4 stages self portrait, the image we see in here is the fourth one of 4; on the first 3 just the pigeons start to transform growing their wings, and it's me who metamorphosed in the end trying to be like them.
The self portrait comes with a poem that recite:

"People of the wind, is people in the window, i want to find my place in the air".

All self portraits belong to the part of my visuals called: "Manifestation of our presence". This part substitutes and refers to act of taking pictures of ourselves when we are on holiday so that we remember ourselves as in where we were, how we felt and to leave a landmark of our presence in the places we've visited.

ALL SELFPORTRAITS - ALL MANIFESTATION OF OUR PRESENCE PART

"Foreign" shows me almost in shock, finding me in a place filled of 'cat people', in my first selfportrait i metaphored into a pigeon, in this one, everyone is a cat, and i experience an urge of metaphore, change to adapt.

"MAKE ME (A SELF PORTRAIT)" depicts an emotion, feelings that changed in the moment captured on this picture, in wich i appear fragmented and holding a camera, taking the picture of my self.
