Les Aus Live at Primavera Sound Festival, Barcelona

This live concert was directed and edited by myself at the end of 2011 and is part of my first music documentary about the band. I chose to work with 3 cameras recording from different angles in order to capture as much of the gig´s atmosphere as possible. I was behind the camera right in front of the stage. We placed another one in the middle of the crowd and an extra one doing master shots above and behind the public. Making the colours match throughout the shots from all three cameras was quite a challenge. The audio mix sent from the mixing desk was not up to scratch but were able able to overcome this, mixing with the audio from the cameras and a zoom handheld recorder to achieve the desired results. I enjoyed working with Les Aus and making this video and I hope you will enjoy watching it. Les Aus performed lived at Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona. The documentary I'm making with them is still in the cutting room ¨Flying to Nowhere¨ will soon see the light this summer 2012 and will be ready to participate in festivals worldwide.

Kalakos in Barcelona Part 2 (music video)

This is the second part of the music video done with 2 synchronized cameras in a double one shot sequence of Mexican band Kalakos performing live at Montjuic in Barcelona.

In a split screen you can see the 2 sequences happening simultaneously showing different angles the performance.

The effect created by the split screen, given that both sides show the exact same performance, enables you to do your own visual editing deciding which screen to look at.

The place We're in HD video

This is a loop. Over 80 layers of video staged like a puzzle to show a 360˚ view of my flat and me performing different actions around it.
Recorded on HD using one single HDV camera.
The video loops continuously when projected in an installation blending its beginning and its end making the loop's repetitions invisible.

ENTITY

Working in partnership with photographer and video artist Ravi Deepres i edited a series of videos to be projected at a dance performance choreographed by Wayne McGregor the Resident Choreaographer of the Royal Ballet, Covent Garden in London.
The videos i worked on were projected over 3 large scaled screens on stage and the topic of the whole performance was "Entity" based on Charles Darwin's theories of evolution and natural selection.
After showing in London's Sadlers Wells theatre the performance then went touring throughout different countries in Europe such as Sweden, Germany, Holland among others for 3 months after returning to London for a couple of more nights.

INSIDE OUT - THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE in LONDON

Project commissioned by the Royal Opera House in London. I worked together with visual artist Ravi Deepres who as several other artist had within their hands the task to compose their own vision of the Opera House, its space and its temporary inhabitants into their own art and media to attract a more vastuos public and perhaps youngsters and other people who's not particularly familiar to it.
We did a series of 360º, 180º photos and some others in 120 and 220 film formats. As well as stop frame animations from digital photographs and HD video.

ONE WAY TICKET

This video is made of three different sequences, sychronized, showing differnt angles of a situation happening in one single moment.
It tells the story of a character going on a journey, scaping from the monotony of her life, to realize that being away and spending time with herself, just being absorved by the experience, will make her want to stay in this journey for life. Remaining in the end, locked in a mental and emotional journey, where she thinks she found her own happiness.

This piece was presented as an installation at Birmingham City University. It's second appearance happened at the Birmingham's Old Curzon's street train station in a show called Cure Zone among other visual artist's works. The following video is how the installation actually looked when mounted.

The music for this vedo was specially produced by landscaper, more details about the band at: www.myspace.com/landscapeband

STILLS EXTRACTED FROM THE 'One Way Ticket' VIDEO

DESCRIBING 'ONE WAY TICKET'

I designed and produced this video installation consistent of, four cushions shaped and disposed to form an airplane, and a projection in the ceiling of three screens of video.
The viewer had to lay down on the cushions and look up to be able to watch the video, that was playing simoultaneously and sychronized, showing different angles of one single action happening at that very same moment.
The cushions were printed with different photographs i took of different street floor, under the concept of creating a space to take the viewer in a journey into the world i created with the video.

The topic is travel as a journey, and also as a change in the interior of a person.
The video present the story of a character that goes into a journey, to a place she has never been before, the character is the person who has always done what she has been told to do so, and always lived by the rule. In this journey she discovers that follow her own will, makes her feel and experience things she has never been through before. At the end she locks herself inside her mind, refusing to come back to her life, staying in the trip a mental one, for life.

This installation was shown at Birmingham City University and in The Cure Zone exhibition, at the old Curzon street station in Birmingham, in september and october 2007, respectively.

B&W External Journey

Some of my photos for the first part of my visuals are black and white, can't avoid to find that there's more to say in a B&W photo, because there are no colors adding different meaning to the image... is just what's in there in the frame, speaking by itself.
